Drugs vs. Alternative Care

Evidence is mounting that drugs are not the answer to our country's health problems and may even be the cause of alot of them.  Several months ago I reported on a study reporting that medicine actually kills about 700,000 people per year by conservative estimates.  http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2004/mar2004_awsi_death_02.htm  But even though the evidence exists, drugs prescriptions are growing each year.

The latest example is the "aspirin a day keeps the heart doctor away" therapy.  However, studies listed in PubMed the largest online listing of studies, shows aspirin use linked to an increased risk of pancreatic cancer in women.  Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst types of cancer with a very low survival rate.  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=14709735

One of the biggest uses of prescription drugs is for pain management drugs for the aging baby boomer generation.  This generation is looking for answers to the daily aches and pains associated with aging and are turning to Vioxx and Celebrex in record numbers.  Evidence shows that doctors are prescribing higher and higher doses of these drugs to their patients, despite the fact that increased doses have shown no improved effects over the normal dose of 25mgs.  High dose-Vioxx has been linked to a variety of health conditions such as congestive heart failure, heart attacks, raised blood pressure and a growing number of cases of edema, a swelling found in the arms or legs that can weigh heavily on the heart. Other conditions related to high dose Vioxx include stress on the kidney, which causes fluid retention, edema and elevated blood pressure.

Many people are turning to alternative medicine as another answer to chronic pain.  A recent study compared the use of Vioxx and Celebrex verses Acupuncture and Chiropractic Adjustments.

Chiropractic adjustments beat the drugs and acupuncture by increased recovery and less adverse events.  The biggest surprise for those who've never experience chiropractic care was that 47% of those under care had an improvment in general health status aside from improved pain.  This proves what chiropractic has been saying for years, that removing subluxations not only removes pain but improves the function of the entire body.  This is why people have reported relief from a myriad of symptoms other than back pain under chiropractic care.

Laughter therapy:

Pay special attention to the wording and spelling. If you know the Bible, even a little, you`ll find this hilarious! It comes from a Catholic elementary school test. Kids were asked questions about the Old and New Testaments. The following statements about the Bible were written by children. They have not been retouched or corrected (i.e., incorrect spelling has been left in).
